Fascia and Soffit Installation
That Protects Your Roofline
for Decades
Your fascias and soffits do more than look smart — they seal the gap between your roof and walls, preventing water ingress, pest entry, and timber rot. We install and replace fascias and soffits using durable uPVC that looks sharp and performs for 30+ years without painting or maintenance.

What This Service Involves
Fascias are the vertical boards fixed to the ends of your roof rafters — they carry your guttering and provide a clean, sealed edge to your roofline. Soffits are the horizontal boards that close the gap between the fascia and the wall, ventilating the roof void while keeping out rain, wind, birds, and insects.
Together, fascias and soffits form your roofline — the visible perimeter of your roof that protects the structural timbers behind it. When these boards deteriorate, water penetrates behind them and attacks the rafter feet, causing rot that can compromise the entire roof structure.

Gwent Roofing and Building Maintenance installs, replaces, and repairs fascias and soffits across Tredegar, Ebbw Vale, Merthyr Tydfil, and the wider South Wales valleys. We use premium uPVC products that are weatherproof, maintenance-free, and available in a range of finishes to complement your property.
Every installation begins with a full roofline inspection. We remove old boards, check the timber behind them, replace any rotten sections, and install new fascias, soffits, and bargeboards with precision. The result is a clean, durable roofline that enhances your home's appearance and protects it for decades.
What Happens When Fascias and Soffits Deteriorate
Rotting fascias are more than a cosmetic issue — they are a structural warning sign. When timber fascias absorb moisture, they soften and decay. The guttering attached to them begins to pull away, creating gaps where rainwater runs directly down your walls, staining render, saturating cavity walls, and causing damp inside your home.
Damaged soffits create openings that birds, wasps, and rodents exploit. Once pests gain entry to your roof void, they cause damage to insulation, wiring, and stored belongings. Bird droppings create hygiene hazards and the noise is a constant irritation. Sealing the roofline properly prevents these problems entirely.
Many homeowners with timber fascias and soffits spend money painting them every few years — a time-consuming, expensive, and often dangerous job that involves working at height. The paint peels, the wood continues to deteriorate, and the cycle repeats. uPVC eliminates this entirely — it never needs painting and resists UV degradation for 30+ years.
Failing to maintain your roofline also undermines your guttering system. When fascias warp or rot, gutter brackets lose their anchor points. Gutters sag, overflow, and dump water where it causes the most damage — directly against your walls and foundations.

Fascia and Soffit Materials & Options
We supply and install cellular uPVC fascia boards in a range of profiles and sizes. The most common size for domestic properties is 18mm x 200mm or 18mm x 225mm, but we also carry 150mm and 300mm boards for non-standard installations. Cellular uPVC is rigid, impact-resistant, and does not absorb moisture.
Soffit boards are available in flat and ventilated profiles. Ventilated soffits incorporate a perforated strip that allows air circulation into the roof void — essential for preventing condensation buildup. We specify ventilated soffits as standard unless existing ventilation is provided elsewhere in the roof.
Bargeboards — the sloping boards on the gable end of your roof — are often overlooked. We replace bargeboards as part of every full roofline installation, ensuring a consistent appearance and complete weather protection around the entire roof perimeter.
Colour options include white, black, anthracite grey, rosewood, and golden oak. White remains the most popular choice in the valleys, but anthracite grey is rapidly growing in popularity for modern properties. Woodgrain foil finishes provide the look of timber without any of the maintenance requirements.
We also install dry verge systems alongside new fascias and soffits. Dry verge caps mechanically fix to the roof edge, replacing traditional mortar pointing that cracks and fails. This provides a clean, maintenance-free gable end that resists wind uplift and looks sharp.
All fixings are stainless steel to prevent corrosion. Joints are sealed with colour-matched connectors and trims that provide a seamless finish. We take particular care at corner details and junction points where poor workmanship is most visible.
